Wednesday, May 13, 2009 Moving on? Well, not right off the bat, but the studio is for sale.
My beloved studio is for sale. Everyone who knows that it's forsale is giving me grief. I, on the other hand am excited about the next venture. This is studio number 4 for me. In my case there is a purging and renewal that come along with the idea of getting a new studio. In each one I create new bodies of work, launch new and exciting ventures and further my career and passion as an artist. This one was the most work, all the other studios have been in a basement or a gigantic warehouse loft.
Until this time I have focused mainly upong my paintings. This studio, a bare of a project, took me in a different direction because of its ease of use as a photo studio. I only created 3 or 4 paintings here, but I've executed a good 3 or 4 series of different prints that continue until this day.
There is no beginning or end...
A line in my new book describing how my work is not a narritave which follows any time line or story but simply evolves and feeds from itself and myown experiences through life. I like the idea of picking up and moving on. I have a feeling that the next space will be a loft space. I already have a few in mind. Of course, there's always the idea of moving to Santiago or New Zealand floating around in the back of my mind... perhaps when I'm a little older and have a better idea of just what it is I'm doing in my life.
If that ever happens ;-)
