I tend to work in short bursts. Expending a great deal of my time, energy and resources completing a few pieces in a certin body of work at which point I let them sit around my studio and decide what it is that I do or don't like about them. The following series of works are examples of the strongest themes in my work. Please take your time and enjoy.
Bryce Hudson: Select Prints
Equilibrium Series (Deco) In The Equilibrium Series, Hudson explores balance, symmetry and harmony in his typical post-painterly minimalist style. Experimentations with positive and negative space are common in his work.
In this particular set of prints Hudson juxtaposes two movements in the history of art and design; Minimalism and Rococo opening up each piece to the viewers own interpretations on decoration, pop art and pattern.
Holding Pattern My latest series of photo-based prints is an idea that I've been toying with for some time. I've titled it them Holding Pattern. The subject, attractive women in their mid 20s to late 30s, superimposed upon their faces are decorative patterns, the combination of which brings to the surface ideas of symetry, objects of decoration and feminity. This is the start of a much larger body of work that will soon show up in my paintings and ultimately installation work.
The Kentucky Gentleman How do we perceive ourselves? And how does everyone else perceive us? Is ethnic composition the defining factor? What part does our upbringing, our class, or even our hairstyle play? And how do the presumptions and reactions of the public affect how we see ourselves?
Beauties The Beauties are some of the latest works in exploration of beauty and sexuality as I decipher their connection to myself through digitally manipulated old advertisements.
